Immutep's lead product, ImmuFact® IMP321, is a highly potent T cell immunostimulatory factor enhancing dendritic cell maturation and cross-presentation of antigens to CD8+ T cells. As a result, strong and sustained anti-tumour or anti-viral cytotoxic T cell responses are obtained when IMP321 is coinjected with antigens.
Another technology, ImmuTune®, uses antibodies to control signalling into effector T cells or Tregs to modulate the T cell response.
Immutep is conducting Phase I/II studies with IMP321 alone and combined with two standard antigens. A Phase I trial in cancer patients will start shortly with IMP321 alone.
Immutep is setting up partnerships for ImmuFact with companies developing therapeutic vaccines, either cell-based, or using novel antigens, vectorisation or delivery systems. The ImmuTune technologies will be developed with partners interested in the up-regulation of T cells as an adjunct to cancer therapies or the down-regulation of T cells in autoimmune diseases, allergic asthma or transplantation.
